Mumbai : Student community seeks purpose and the opportunity to make an impact during their education and for their future employment. Over 200 Students sign up for fellowships with Goodfellows. Motivated by the student response, Mr. Hiranandani announced a student fellowship for all its HSNC colleges.

The fellowship provides 3-month, 6-month and 9-month internships across seven departments but requires chosen student to primarily spend time with seniors living who are alone and looking for companionship.

Under the fellowship every college will have a social entrepreneurship cell that will have modules to teach students how to marry business and social impact for sustainability, certification for all fellowship students as well as the autonomy to learn in a department of their choice irrespective of their career backgrounds.

The goal of the fellowship is to use intergenerational friendships to sensitize students about the elderly population at the student level and create an army of empathetic individuals who make lives easier for the elderly of India living alone.

Speaking on the fellowship Vice Chancellor Hemlata Bagla said: “We have always considered ourselves to be a university that creates a difference in the community. I personally have a soft spot for senior care, both mental and physical. I am confident Goodfellows is the right opportunity for our students to learn and become role models for the youth. I strongly believe with the model of collaboration, Goodfellows has the potential to become an institution that society looks up to”.

Speaking on the fellowship Shantanu Naidu, founder, Goodfellows said “Since our launch the requests from seniors have been overwhelming and still pour in. However, finding empathetic kind young graduates that fit the criteria of being a Goodfellow is a slow process. It is akin to mining diamonds, one at a time, handpicking them. This fellowship with HSNC will help us have a steady stream of such students who will be vetted before being chosen. We are targeting many more universities ahead but this is a great first step.”

HSNC university has some of the top colleges of Mumbai as its constituents such as HR college, KC College etc.
