Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to make history by launching first-ever private Rocket from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh tomorrow. Space Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said he will be in Sriharikota to witness the historic maiden private launch of Vikram-suborbital (VKS) rocket.

He said, Vikram Rocket launch will herald a level playing field for cost-efficient satellite launch services by disrupting the entry barriers. The Minister termed it as a major milestone in the journey of ISRO after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unlocked the Space Sector in 2020 for private participation.

The Non-Government Entity and StartUp, Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited has developed the VKS rocket. It is a single stage spin stabilised solid propellant rocket with mass of approximately 550 kilograms. The rocket will go to the max altitude of 101 kilometres and splash into the sea. The overall duration of launch is 300 seconds.
