World Kidney Day observed

ALIGARH : Dr Nikhil Varshney emerged as the winner of the quiz competition organized by the Division of Nephrology, Department of Pediatrics, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, while Dr Sarnia Saba was declared first runner up and Dr Ammar Ahmad , the second runner up in the competition. Dr Mantasha, Dr Sana and Dr Hera were declared the winners of poster making competition.

These competitions were held for the undergraduate medical students and interns to mark the World Kidney Day 2023.

Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine gave away prizes to the winners and urged the young doctors to keep updating their knowledge in their respective fields and equip themselves with the modern technological advances to cope with the challenges posed by the new breeds of diseases.

Delivering a health talk on the “Kidney Health and the Prevention of Kidney Diseases” at the Columbia Public School in the Patwari Ka Nagla locality, Prof Kamran Afzal discussed common health problems associated with kidneys and lifestyle modification to improve kidney health.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, the officiating chairman of the department, Prof S. Manazir Ali highlighted the significance of the day and urged the students to work hard to attain excellence in their area of interest.

Piyush, an 11-year old follow-up patient of chronic kidney ailment, shared his experience of treatment at JNMC.

Prof. Kamran Afzal extended a vote of thanks.
