THE ranks AMU as top Indian university for Social Sciences

Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been ranked as the best educational institution for Social Sciences scholarship and study in India with all other ten Indian institutions ranked below it in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings-2023, released in London recently.

AMU featured in the ‘301-400’ rank slot in Social Science studies among 941 global universities for teaching quality, staff-to-student ratio, doctorates awarded, research quality, citations, number of international students/staff/collaboration, industry income and knowledge transfer.

In the rankings, the Life Sciences study at AMU was ranked in the 401-500 slot among 1017 global institutions and the Engineering studies of the university was ranked in the group of 501-600 from among 1306 world universities. Business and Economics and Clinical and Health subjects in AMU were also placed in the 501-600 group among 870 and 1001 global centres of higher learning respectively.

AMU also secured a rank of 601-800 among 974 world global institutions teaching Computer Science and in the 1307 world education centres offering Physical Science courses.

The Times Higher Education’s global university rankings for AMU represent the excellent and extensive work of our faculty members, staff, and students in advancing knowledge and discovery”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor.

Prof M Salim Beg (Chairman, Committee for Ranking of the University) pointed out: “The yearly increase in subject-wise representation of AMU in the THE ranking reflects all round improvement in the university. This year, seven subject areas of AMU featured in the rankings compared to five ranked subjects last year and four in the year before last year”.
