Mumbai : Somaiya Vidyavihar University is proud to announce a ‘Summer School’ initiative, which will include college programs for high-school students. This endeavour offers an opportunity for students who have attempted Standard 10th, 11th and 12th to gain an understanding of the various programs offered in higher education. The six-day program provides a small class setting for participants to engage with experienced university faculty and experience university life on campus.
The Summer School initiative at Somaiya Vidyavihar University is designed to offer students a comprehensive understanding of the courses offered in Arts & Humanities, Science & Technology and Commerce & Business Studies. The program will offer an immersive experience of university life on campus, enabling students to engage with experienced university faculty members and peers in structured co-curricular activities, college readiness workshops, and social events.
Commenting on the launch of the ‘Summer School’ program, Prof VN Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University said, “Somaiya Vidyavihar University believes in providing quality education and fostering a culture of innovation and leadership. Our Summer School will provide a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable insights into various streams and get a head start in their journey towards higher education. This program aims to prepare students for the college experience and provide them with the necessary tools to make informed decisions about their future academic pursuits.”
Students who select the Arts & Humanities, will be introduced to talks on careers in Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and Language by alumni, experiential exercises and group activities related to the respective fields and discussions on topics such as caste, religion, gender, diversity, and inclusion. For Science & Technology, students will know about careers in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, and Engineering by alumni, along with visits to various labs and practical sessions. And for the Commerce & Business Studies, alumni will help students for career discussions related to Banking, Law, and Accounting, also visits to banks and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) or National Stock Exchange (NSE) and experiential exercises and discussion on the stock exchanges.
The eligibility for the Summer School College Programs at Somaiya Vidyavihar is open to students who have attempted the 10th,11th and 12th standard. Students can choose from a range of courses offered in Arts, Science & Commerce streams. The ‘Summer School’ program at Somaiya Vidyavihar University will run in May 2023.
