National Conference ‘WoundCareCon-2023’ organized

ALIGARH  : Addressing the inaugural session of the 15th Annual National Conference, “WoundCareCon-2023” of Society of Wound Care and Research (SWCR), organized by the Department of Surgery and allied branches, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, the chief guest, AMU Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohd. Gulrez said that in a world where it is easy to get wounds from multiple sources, it is the surgeons who take pains to treat the patients and heal their wounds. Their services are immense and society is always grateful to them for their dedication and commitment to their noble profession.

The delegates were provided training in wound care management during two hands-on workshops and about 50 research papers were presented by the delegates including oral and poster presentations.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. Afzal Anees (Organising Chairman) thanked the delegates for attending the conference and hoped their stay at AMU will be academically rewarding. He gave a crisp overview of the wounds and emphasized on the prevention of Surgical Site Infections.

He said that renowned surgeons, orthopedics, endocrinologists, podiatrists, microbiologists, anesthetists, and forensic medicine experts from across India participated in the conference and shared their experience and expert opinions with the delegates on medical advancement and utilization of the latest scientific technology and artificial intelligence in wound management.

Prof. Imran Ahmad (President, SWCR) said that JNMC has been conducting Wound Care Con for two consecutive years. He spoke on wound closure without suturing i.e., Ty-rap, and underscored the importance of organizing an outreach programme for better wound care by involving local practitioners and Jarrah/Quacks and educating and training them for wound care in a scientific way. He said a diploma course in dressings and wound care is already being conducted by the department of Plastic Surgery.

Prof. Vijay Kumar (Secretary, SWCR) appreciated the efforts of the Department of Surgery in organizing the conference and urged the participants to publish their research in the NMC-approved journal of the society.

Prof. Rakesh Bhargava (Principal and CMS, JNMCH) and Prof. Haris M Khan (officiating Dean, Faculty of Medicine) also addressed the participants.
