Elegante, the annual fest of IIM Bodhgaya, with State Bank Of India as the title sponsor, is back to its glory after the pandemic. This time the fest is planned from 20th to 22nd January 2023 and will be hosting a magnitude of events in the field of Sports, Management, and cultural events with participation from various institutes; Elegante 6.0 aims to be bigger, better, and more thrilling than ever.
As a part of the pre-event of Elegante 6.0, Pragati – The CSR Committee of IIM Bodh Gaya, organized “Greenathon – a run for a greener lifestyle,” on January 15, 2023, to motivate people to adopt a greener and healthier lifestyle, and a “Blood Donation Camp” on January 14, 2023, to emphasize the significance of blood donation aligning with the institute’s vision of creating socially responsible managers and emotionally mature leaders.
Greenathon – run for a greener lifestyle, sponsored by the Indian Bank & the Central Bank of India as a part of Elegante 6.0 was conducted to spread the importance of sustainability and its usability in everyday life. Mr. Rajiv Ranjan – Divisional Forest Officer of Gaya, Dr. A.N. Teterway – MBBS, F.C.G.P and Incharge Medical officer, M.U. Bodh Gaya and Dr. Vinita S. Sahay – Director of IIM Bodh Gaya graced the event with their presence. Dr. Sahay inaugurated the marathon by planting a tree and addressed the students about the importance of sustainability and encouraged them to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Her speech was followed by an energetic dance performance by the students of IIM Bodh Gaya. Prof. Sreelekha Mishra, the Chairperson of the Student Affairs Committee, started the event by giving her inaugural speech about Elegante 6.0.
The marathon run started from IIM Bodh Gaya Academic block to Maya Sarovar lake through the Magadh university campus and back to the Academic block, covering a total distance of 7.4 km. Medical equipment and water, glucose, fruits along with other refreshments were made available at all the stages of the run.
The cadets from Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Gaya; the faculty and the students of the institute were exhilarated and took part in the run with great enthusiasm. The spectacle of passion-driven individuals running toe to toe with each other on a fresh winter morning was mesmerizing. The event ended with prize distribution to the participants by Mr. Rajiv Ranjan.
IIM Bodh Gaya was joined by the OTA, Gaya to organize a Blood Donation camp on 14th January, 2023, which was graced by Major Anuraj K R from the OTA Gaya, Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, Dr. Amarnath Choudhary and a team from Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College. The event was also collaborated by the G20 University Connect programme.
Along with the rapid growth in the global population, there has been an alarming rate of increase in the number of diseases. With the continuous change in the mortality rate, blood donations have become the need of the hour for hospitals, which continuously provide care to a massive number of patients every day. Our obligation as responsible citizens in such a situation is to contribute to the cause by donating blood.
The students of IIM Bodh Gaya actively participated in the camp, and the faculty joined them to contribute to this noble cause. A total of 73 blood donations were recorded. Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, emphasized the continuous need for each of our voluntary participation in this cause to help our fellow citizens who need blood and thanked all the donors and the coordinators for their enthusiastic participation to serve the needs of humanity. As a part of Elegante 6.0 pre-event the Greenathon – run for a greener lifestyle and Blood Donation Camp, was directed by Prof. Amit Srivastava, Chairperson of Pragati – The CSR Committee.
