FDP held on Innovative Practices in Higher Education and Research

ALIGARH  : The Research and Extension Club, Department of Education, Aligarh Muslim University Malappuram Centre (AMUMC), Kerala organized a week-long interdisciplinary Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Innovative Practices in Higher Education and Research (with a special reference to NEP 2020)”, in collaboration with the UGC Human Resource Development Centre, AMU.

Addressing the inaugural session, the chief guest, Prof. Asmar Beg, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, AMU highlighted the important aspects of NEP 2020 for educators.

In his presidential remarks, Dr. Muhammed Basheer K (Coordinator, Department of Education, AMUMC) underlined the significance of organizing FDP for the professional development of higher education teachers.

The Course Coordinator and the Director, AMUMC, Dr. Faisal KP highlighted the need and objectives of the interdisciplinary FDP and discussed the important features of the FDP that are relevant to making the teaching-learning environment vibrant.

Earlier, Course Co-coordinator Dr. Abdul Basith PP welcomed the guests and participants.

Prof. Jasim Ahmad, Dr. Aerum Khan and Dr. Sameer Babu from Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Nasrin, Prof Sajid Jamal, Dr. Anjum Ahmad, Dr. Abdul Azeez NP from Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. Muhammed Basheer K. from AMUMC, Dr. Shibu KM from Pondicherry University and Dr. K.S Sajan from the University of Calicut were the resource persons.

A wide range of relevant topics including the NEP and latest pedagogies in higher education, educational psychology and effective teaching, open education resources and digital learning platforms, outcome-based education, understanding and avoiding plagiarism, recent technologies in the reference management systems, innovative tools for online assessment and evaluation and steps in preparing a research proposal were discussed during the FDP.

An MCQ test was also held besides two assignments done by the participants.

Addressing the valedictory programme, the Course Director, Dr. Faiza Abbasi (Director, UGC HRDC, AMU) appreciated the active participation of the participants and said that such programmes not only motivate the faculty members to develop a competitive teaching and learning environment but also channelize their academic qualifications and personal development.

Course co-coordinator, Dr. Sadaf Jafri extended a vote of thanks and Tarannum Jahan and Samiksha conducted the programme.
