Ahmedabad : Anant National University, India’s First DesignX University, has announced its admissions for its Bachelor of Visual Arts programme for the academic year 2023-2024. The four-year, full-time programme under the School of Creative Practices and Entrepreneurship (SCoPE) prepares, trains, and equips students in Fine Arts, Art History, and Aesthetics. The students opting for the degree course can specialise in Painting, Sculpting and Multimedia. The applications are available on the University’s website. The deadline for early admission is March 19, 2023, with need-based scholarships available.

The Bachelor of Visual Arts offers students an education that balances thinking and making, academic rigour and experimental play. It exposes and trains students in critical thinking and holistic learning processes through its unique multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary curriculum necessary to express ideas as artists and future curators. The programme is delivered by experienced academics, artists, writers and curators who have an in-depth understanding of materials, traditional crafts and skills with a global outlook.

The eight-semester curriculum is designed to train students to be flexible thinkers, proficient makers, and lifelong learners by exploring visual art concepts, research and studio skills, and critical thinking and practices. The students will gain various art-making skills through core studio courses focused on 2D, 3D, and 4D inflexions. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of artistic theories and concepts through conceptual exploration, practice, readings, discussions, and critiques in core seminars. In the final year, students will work on their research papers and build their portfolios by developing the art language. Additionally, they will work with two mentors to build their portfolio and present it to public viewing in the Graduate Show. In addition, students will also write a dissertation on their selected topics, where they will work with a mentor.

Dr Anunaya Chaubey, Provost, Anant National University, said, “The programme is ideal for students who can think critically, are creative, curious, and eager to push the boundaries of art and explore the transformative potential of visual arts in the real world.”
