ALIGARH  : Dr. Aamir Riyaz, Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University, delivered a special lecture on “Environment Protection and Islam: A Philosophical Analysis” in the 18th national seminar organized by Darshan Parishad (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh) at Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur.

In his lecture, Dr. Aamir focused on the main sources of Islam including the Quran, Hadith, Ijma and Qiyas and highlighted how the Quran and Hadith stress the protection and conservation of the environment through the verses and moral stories quoted in them.

He discussed the issues related to water and water-borne diseases and suggested ways to conserve the ecology, quoting John F. Kennedy, the 35th American President, who said that anyone who can solve the problem related to water is worthy of two Nobel prizes, one for peace and the other for science.
