AMU Engineering students get ‘The Best Innovation Award’ for hybrid vehicle

Aligarh : Team Green Warriors of the SAE ZHCET Collegiate Club, a group of engineering students from the Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) won plaudits after receiving ‘The Best Innovation Award’ for designing a three-wheeled environment friendly vehicle powered by human and electric drive train in the EFFI-CYCLE 2022 held at the Lovely Professional University, Punjab.

The AMU students were competing against teams from various IITS, NITs and other central universities at the event.

“Our hybrid vehicle can be operated by charging the battery through non-conventional methods and it has an intelligent system consisting of an open CV, Raspberry Pi, Pi Camera Module, a drowsiness alert system to prevent accidents and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) systems like Anti-theft, reverse parking assist, mini-computer, speedometer and navigation”, said Shadab Khan (Captain, Team Green Warriors).

Extending congratulations to the Team Green Warriors, Prof M Muzammil (Chairman, Department of Mechanical Engineering) said, “The ergonomic and efficient hybrid vehicle designed by our students offer solutions to pollution that is touching alarming levels”.

“The prototype vehicle was designed, manufactured and assembled with great dedication and hard work”, said Dr Syed Fahad Anwer and Nafees Ahmad, the faculty advisors to the SAE ZHCET Collegiate Club.

Team Green Warriors comprise Shadab Khan (Captain), lram Abid (Vice Captain), Ahraz Shamim (Manager), Kshitij Gupta (Treasurer), Sarim Khan (Business Lead), Pratyush Kaushik (Electronics Lead), Mirza Ahmed Beg, Mayank Awasthi, Mohd Munazir Mairaj, Mohammad Afzal, Mohd Sharib, Zoya Ahmad, and Saumya Agrawal.
