Evgeny Kuyvashev, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, presented diplomas to the laureates. Three lecturers of the Ural Federal University became laureates and received cash prizes for their efforts. A total of 69 applications were received from 17 higher education institutions in the Middle Urals.

In the direction of “Humanities” in the nomination “Professor of the Year” won Anna Bagirova, Professor at the Department of Sociology and Public and Municipal Administration Technologies of the Graduate School of Economics and Management. In the direction of “Psychological and Pedagogical Sciences” there were two victories at once. Thus, in the nomination “Professor of the Year” the best was Larisa Korneeva, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation at the Ural Institute of Humanities, and “Associate Professor of the Year” became Anna Pecherkina, Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Education.

“I received this award with the help of my colleagues in the department. We have done a lot of work together during the 25 years of the department. In 2022, the dissertation council was opened at our university by order of the rector. I am very happy about this moment because it took us a long time to get there. This year we are planning to defend one or two dissertations. In addition, of course, I have plans to create a scientific school,” Larisa Korneeva said.

The amount of the prize depends on the nomination and ranges from 80 to 300 thousand rubles. According to Kuyvashev, the support of science and higher education is one of the priorities in the work of the regional government.

“Universities of the Sverdlovsk Region successfully fulfill the task set by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to train qualified personnel for the development of the regions and the country as a whole. They are not only educational institutions, but also research and development centers and points of innovative growth. Most of our universities implement educational programs that are “tuned” to the requirements of not only today’s, but also tomorrow’s economy,” the governor noted at the award ceremony.
